7. Tomb Raider (2013)

Why? Rise of the Tomb Raider is out November 10th, and you can snap up this awesome 2013 instalment for only a handful of coin these days. Let's face it, Tomb Raider is going to get eaten alive by Fallout 4 in a couple of weeks. There's just no way anyone's going to take a look at footage of the two of them - cash in hand - and plump it down on the former, which is a shame, because it looks incredible. Dare I say it, Crystal Dynamics actually provided a more fun experience that the last Uncharted in their (admittedly ripped-off) 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider. Lara moved and scaled levels just like Nathan Drake, but they added in great melee attacks, levels with a Metroidvania sensibility of item-based unlocking, and a sense of character progression that took Ms. Croft from being a shivering survivor nestling by a camp fire, to a battle-worn warrior woman who'd have anyones eyes out with a pickaxe if she had to. Chances are you'll find this instalment going for supremely cheap this close to Rise's arrival, and with its tight campaign length and fun gameplay, is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to what's now the definitive Tomb Raider experience.
