10 Video Games You Won't Believe Got REJECTED
5. Scalebound
In regards to scale, this entry takes the cake for our list. Scalebound looked to gain inspiration from the likes of the Monster Hunter series, with an added twist. Instead of man vs. monster, it would be man and fellow dragon companion, vs. other monsters.
Originally scheduled for a 2016 release as an Xbox One exclusive, Platinum Games, developers of Nier and Bayonetta, delayed it a year to offer the best experience possible. This makes the entry sting that much more considering it was only a year away from release. That is, assuming the delay wasn't market speak for, we’re not sure it’s going to be ready.
After almost three years of hype, alongside dragon-filled and combat-heavy trailers, the project came to an abrupt end. Microsoft released a statement severing ties with Platinum Games, also announcing the cancellation of Scalebound.
When asked for further details they remained tight lipped and refused to reveal which of the companies owned the Scalebound IP. Unfortunately, it was later revealed that Microsoft own the rights. An absolute tragedy.
