10 Video Games You're Secretly A Fan Of
5. Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront was released to insane levels of hype back in late 2015, with fans hoping that EA would deliver a fitting follow-up to the much-loved original Battlefront series.
Sadly, Battlefront 2015 was met with mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, largely aiming their ire towards the overly simplistic, casual-skewing gameplay and the piecemeal amount of content available at launch, including the total lack of a single-player campaign.
And while Battlefront certainly paled in comparison to its predecessors, it was still a fun, visually stunning FPS, albeit one best enjoyed on the down-low, given the vociferous backlash against EA for delivering such a content-poor game.
At the most basic level, Battlefront 2015 still nailed the tone and aesthetic of Star Wars, and running across the snowy trenches of Hoth was insanely fun.
It was certainly a game to play in short bursts given its repetition, but as a glossy, gorgeous shooter, it did the job well enough.
The grand irony, of course, is that EA promised that the 2017 sequel would remedy all those fan complaints, only for it to receive immediate criticism upon release for its aggressive microtransactions strategy. Oof.
