10 Ways Bioware Can Still Save Mass Effect
4. Put Drew Karpyshyn & Corey Hudson Back On Lead Duties
Sorry Mac Walters, but whilst the problems of Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda are manyfold, they also happened under your watch.
In case you're not down with Mass Effect's behind the scenes cast n' crew setups, Mac Walters first worked on Mass Effect 2 under Lead Writer Drew Karpyshyn - the latter of which also wrote the original Mass Effect, and went on to pen several supplemental Mass Effect novels (which I highly recommend).
As for Casey Hudson, he's responsible for directing the trilogy itself, framing the cinematography, narrative structure and characters we love so much.
Now, Walters stepped in to helm Mass Effect 3 when Drew left Bioware to join Bungie, resulting in that ending - one that then saw Casey Hudson also depart thereafter, as you can just imagine the conversations happening in the aftermath.
Walters was thus one of the only original key members left standing - to which he was then given lead duties for Andromeda's story, and again... not the best.
Now, Karpyshyn and Hudson have both rejoined Bioware during Andromeda's development, but had no say in the project itself.
Most recently, Hudson has claimed he still "loves Mass Effect too much to not want to work on it again" - we've just got the rather passionless Anthem to get through first.
