10 Ways God Of War PS4 Was Almost COMPLETELY Different
6. Mimir Was Just A Head In A Bag
If you've played through God of War (2018) more than once, you'll be acutely aware of a kind of before and after moment. After starting the game for a second playthrough, you'll be reminded of how fairly quiet those first 10 hours are, and that's because you don't have Mimir along for the ride.
Mimir is the lovable, Scottish head that hangs from Kratos' hip. He's an excellent addition to the crew and provides a seemingly endless well of Norse lore and humour. So much so that the idea of a game without him seems a tad dull.
Well that was kind of the idea in the early days. Director Barlog stated that Mimir was originally to be just thrown in a bag, which would rest on Kratos' hip. However, over time, Barlog kept slipping into conversations that Mimir's decapitated head would just be there. So by the time it came to implement the head, everyone had forgotten that he was meant to be silently laying in a bag.
