10 Ways God Of War PS4 Was Almost COMPLETELY Different

2. Norse Mythology Wasn't Always The Setting

God Of War Differences

The setting of God of War is one of the best things about the game. Vikings and Norse mythology are a fairly undeserved setting in video games, and God of War tackled it with passion like nothing we'd ever seen before. The game is rife with incredible lore, easter eggs, teases, and history, making it feel like we're simple observers in a vast landscape that has seen Gods, mortals, and beasts wage war some time ago. However, Norse was not always the setting for the God of War reboot.

The team at Sony Santa Monica had narrowed down the setting to four different locations: Midgard, Egypt, Inca, and India. The four whittled down to two, and the team settled on Midgard. What would God of War Egypt have looked like? It's probably for the best it didn't happen though, because the game came out just months after Assassins Creed: Origins, and we may not have gotten the incredible story we did.

However, Egypt could very well be the setting of a future God of War. While the series seems rooted in Norse mythology for the time being, there were teases for Egypt, Ireland, and Japan. Which would you want to see?
