As pointed out in this very interesting video from YouTube user MulleDK19, Rockstar is not above a flat out and blatant lie in order to improve our perception of their game. Although admittedly not actually detrimental in anyway, it seems a rather churlish method to improve our gameplay experience through an altering of numbers in the background. Although the driving whilst at top speed in Los Santos seems fast enough to be thrilling and enjoyable, the ability to see how fast you are going is not readily available. Unless you are a member of the Social Club that is, where your top speed can be recorded whilst driving. It seems that using distance over time to calculate speed leads to a very different answer than the figure provided by Rockstar's game. Moreover, multiplying your actual speed by 1.75 will always lead you to the figure that Rockstar claim you are driving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOC9E45HYX0 It seems that the hidden depths of Rockstar's current opus is artificially enhancing our experiences. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as there are many technical reasons that could account for the addition of the multiplication. For example, in Grand Theft Auto IV, some cars had their top speed altered to avoid a bug in the game. However, there is no way around the fact that Rockstar is outright lying here and has been caught with their boxershorts firmly ablaze.
