3. Don't Overload The Game With Peripheral Characters

The Sonic the Hedgehog series has made many, MANY missteps at this stage €” probably so many that the series is tainted forever. Sonic Generations has been the only good title from the series in the last decade, mostly because it went back to basics. One of the Sonic series's big mistakes is to create in a cast of irritating, dull characters. Come on, Big the Cat... really?!? Overloading the cast would be a move Naughty Dog would do well to avoid: the cast shouldn't need much extending beyond Crash himself, Doctor Neo Cortex, Aku Aku, Crunch and Coco, and perhaps a supporting antagonist. These guys were fun the first time round, so let's keep them that way and not go crazy with too many new characters, Okay?
