There will be little incentive for Switch owners to dust off their old Wii U because some of the current-gen console’s best games look like they’re being retooled for the hybrid.

The trailer offers a peek at what appears to be a revamped version of Mario Kart 8, with King Boo as a playable character and the option to store two power-ups.

There’s also footage from an updated edition of Splatoon that includes a bonus multiplayer map and new hairstyles for your characters.

No doubt there’s a reason Nintendo picked these two games from its current stable to showcase the Switch, since they highlight the system’s multiplayer potential.

Two can take part in a head-to-head Mario Kart session with a Joy-Con controller each, and we’ve already touched on the potential of the enhanced Splatoon among eSports fans.
