10 Ways Sony Could Ruin The PS5
1. Limited Backwards Compatibility
For a while, backwards compatibility for the PS5 was taken for granted. After Microsoft caused such a scene by cramming the feature into the Xbox One after the fact, and such a premium was placed on Games Pass providing legacy content, it seemed certain that Sony would figure it out.
Likewise, rumours suggested that the company was going one step further than simply making PS4 games playable on the 5. Patents indicated they were crafting a way for games across all of their consoles to be playable on their newest machine, allowing Sony to finally leverage their amazing back catalogue of releases.
The first Wired interview seemed to confirm this, detailing that backwards compatibility was confirmed for at least PS4 titles, but that Sony wasn't totally ready to comment on the feature yet.
However, the most recent update indicates we might have jumped the gun. Apparently, the engineers are still trying to figure out how backwards compatibility is going to work on the PS5, and it could be more limited than first thought.
That would suck, obviously, and mean people who have a big library of PS4 games will be less willing to make the switch.
