10 Ways The Gaming Industry Can Improve In The 2020s
9. Continue To Offer Physical Media

Whilst nobody wants to stand in the way of progress, the move from physical media to downloads and streaming has been concerning for many gamers. These digital versions of products, though convenient for some, also leave a few tough questions in regard to where gaming is going as we move forward.
The main issue around this transition is that of ownership. If you go to the shop and buy a physical copy of a game, you have something tangible that you own. You’ve got a case, a disc, a manual and even a poster, if you’re lucky.
Digital copies, downloaded or cloud-based, remove some of that sense of ownership. Although there’s proof of purchase on your account, you have to put faith into cloud based games receiving continued support from developers and downloaded games being safe if your account is corrupted. This takes the responsibility out of the hands of the owner who now needs to place trust in a third party.
Sharing games amongst friends is also a lot easier to do with discs than with online copies. It’s almost as if developers would rather sell multiple copies of their games and make more money. Preposterous.
