10 Ways The Nintendo Switch Is Better Than PS4 & Xbox One
5. Connects To PC/Mac Without Additional Drivers
Not something advertised as a feature of game consoles, but both the Dualshock and Xbox One pads can be connected to PC and Mac, for use with Steam or any other titles that support them.
However, the majority of the time - especially on Mac - they'll require additional drivers to be recognised, or to function whatsoever.
Not so on Switch, where all you need do is push down the small button on top of a separated Joy-Con to put it in pairing mode, letting your computer pick it up as a Bluetooth accessory. Yes, the Dualshock has this too (hold down the PS button and Share together), but it's unreliable at best, then still requiring the aforementioned drivers to work properly.
Instead, the Switch's Joy-Cons will show up as 'Joy-Con (L)' or 'Joy-Con (R)', can be re-paired with the Switch by sliding them back onto the side of the screen, alongside connecting VERY easily to phones by doing the same process.
Also, thanks to the Joy-Cons' size, keeping one handy or in your bag as a tablet/phone controller is far more practical than a bulky PS4 or Xbox One pad.
