10 Worst Boss Battles In Final Fantasy History - Ranked

1. Yu Yevon – Final Fantasy X

Like our “10 Best Boss Battles In Final Fantasy History - Ranked” list, FFX also takes the top spot here, with end-game Yu Yevon taking the crown for a number of reasons.

Not only is the appearance of this all-powerful sorcerer an extreme let down – we've heard about his exploits and history all throughout FFX only to come face to face with an over-sized tick - but this is the sorcerer that created Sin, manifested dream Zanarkand, and was the father of Yunalesca (ironically, our favourite Final Fantasy boss battle), yet can barely scratch us in a final battle we're destined to win.

The emotional conflict within hero Tidus comes boiling to the surface as he comes face-to-face with Braska's Final Aeon, Sin's manifestation of Tidus' father. The battle is everything a final boss battle should be – huge in scale, with the enemy evolving over the course of the battle, and with 40 hours of epic plot on the line.

So it's beggar's belief why Square Enix decided to throw in Yu Yevon afterwards as the true final boss. Sure it makes sense from a plot perspective, but the poor design, boring system where the heroes can't die, and slow, monotonous mechanic of killing the bizarre, floating bug simply isn't worth it.
