10 Worst Games Of 2018 (So Far)
5. Agony
Agony is arguably one of the best-looking bad games ever made, a frequently gorgeous and really quite atmospheric slog through hell that's completely derailed by gameplay that's alternately dull and agonisingly (sorry) cheap.
There's clearly been a ton of time and effort poured into the game's slick and imaginatively grotesque visuals, but it's largely for nought given how frustrating it is to navigate this gory hellscape.
Agony is focused around stealthily evading the countless demonic figures who will insta-kill you upon spotting you, resulting in a ton of player f-bombs and possibly a broken controller due to the atrocious checkpointing system and abundance of repetition.
Needless to say, these sequences became tiresome so quickly that I didn't even last the two-hour cutoff for a Steam refund, and promptly jettisoned the game from my library.
Proof that a tight graphical package will never compensate for bunk gameplay, Agony is a wretchedly-assembled slog that need only tempt the most masochistic gamers out there.
