10 Worst Games Of 2018 (So Far)

6. Crisis On The Planet Of The Apes

Firmly living down to the expectations of video games based on movies, this VR experience based on the brilliant recent trilogy of Andy Serkis-starring Apes movies is an intriguing offering quickly derailed by terrible gameplay.

From the outset, the player has to contend with awful controls which actively hamper their progress: basic locomotion is effectively on-rails with a level of speed approximate to wading through treacle.

This is clearly an attempt to prevent motion sickness, but for those of us with sturdy "VR legs", it makes this 90-minute romp feel at least twice as long.

The cute novelty of getting to play as and hang around with apes wears off quickly thanks to the charmless nature of the traversal and light gunplay, and ultimately it's more an exercise in frustration than a fun wish fulfilment scenario.
