10 Worst Triple-A Games Of The Decade (So Far)
4. Battlefield 2042
Call of Duty wasn't the only AAA first-person shooter franchise to hit the critical skids this decade - the usually reliable Battlefield also took a nasty tumble with the execrable Battlefield 2042.
Fans were miffed by not only the cancellation of an expected single-player campaign, but also the removal of the series' signature class system, and the overwhelming abundance of bugs present at launch.
As a result, Battlefield 2042 quickly became one of the worst-reviewed games on Steam and its player count drastically reduced within just a few weeks of release.
Though EA and Dice did improve the game with post-launch updates, for many the damage was already done, causing a large number of Battlefield fans to return to earlier games in the series.
Even in 2025, previous titles Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V both have more concurrent players on Steam than Battlefield 2024, confirming just how aggressively the player-base rejected it.
