10 Worst Triple-A Games Of The Decade (So Far)

3. Redfall

Forspoken game
Arkane Studios

Redfall was an open-world FPS from Arkane - the superb outfit behind the likes of Dishonored and Prey. And while there were absolutely reasons to have reservations about this foray into live service fare, the devs' prior pedigree spoke for itself.

But what a brutal letdown this turned out to be. A painfully by-the-numbers squad-based shooter with a forgettable story and characters, what truly sank Redfall however was its clunky gunplay, atrocious AI, listless open world, and myriad performance issues.

Even if playing with three friends, you were more likely to have fun tearing the game apart as a shared experience than actually enjoying it for the high-octane looter shooter it was designed to be.

The lack of even basic energy or vibrancy on offer is staggering, indicating what was later confirmed post-release, that many members of the Arkane team didn't even want to make the game.

The response from critics and players alike was damning enough that Microsoft even apologised for the state of Redfall just two days after launch. It however limped on for a full year before Microsoft ended support and shuttered Arkane's Austin branch.
