Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a brilliant game. The first Animal Crossing entry on the Nintendo Switch has succeeded where the series' last game on a home console failed by significantly overhauling the gameplay and giving players an unprecedented amount of things to do on their island without comprising the simplicity that the games so fun and relaxing.

New Horizons has even updated the online multiplayer in the series, with players now able to invite up to eight friends to visit their island, doubling the number from the previous title.

However, players may be discouraged from utilising the full capacity of their island when they realise just how tedious inviting someone to visit can be. That is because the game mandates that every time a new player arrives, all those on an island must sit through a series of unskippable cutscenes that, while charming the first couple times, are decidedly less so when you are running immigration control on those attempting to take advantage of your blooming turnip economy.
