Few games encapsulate the concept of telling the story through a series of cutscenes quite as perfectly as the Kingdom Hearts franchise. In them, cutscenes allow the details of the campaign to progress without detracting from the gameplay experience which actually works perfectly in connecting the various characters in the franchise together.

Unfortunately, the first game didn't seem to consider the fact that players may want to play through the campaign more than once, or possibly just don't necesarrily want to know absolutely every detail of Kingdom Hearts lore as they make their way through, as every single cutscene must be watched in its entirety.

Now, this wouldn't be a problem if the cinematics were brief and concise, but that just isn't the case. Especially when the player battles with an Ansem controlled Riku, with a several-minute cutscene preceding the actual gameplay. Then if the player fails to defeat Ansem, they will have to do the whole sequence all over again...
