10 Worst Unskippable Gaming Cutscenes You’ll See Hundreds Of Times
6. Night Trap
So as you've probably come to understand by this point in the list, if not done well, cutscenes are an absolute chore to play through, and do nothing but detract from the overall gaming experience. Well, imagine a game that is basically nothing but cutscenes, with all the terrible acting and confusing writing one could hope for, and you'll probably end up with something similar to 1992's Night Trap.
Developed for the SEGA CD, Night Trap utilised the then-revolutionary technology to its advantage, creating an interactive movie experience that amounted to little more than a collection of live-action cut scenes.
Though Night Trap is now recognised in some circles as something of a cult classic, presumably in the same way The Room is considered a classic, Night Trap's technical achievements have long since been surpassed, and the game is just not very good unless viewed through an ironic lense.
