10 Worst Video Game Boss Battles Of 2018
7. Kingpin - Spider-Man
This PS4-exclusive title may be a solid contender for game of the year, but that doesn’t mean it is totally flawless. While it offers a spidey experience the likes of which fans haven’t seen since 2004’s Spider-Man 2, it falters slightly in a few areas.
While most of the game’s bosses are amazing in terms of both design and actual gameplay, the first boss encounter is a bit of a letdown. For starters, Kingpin is far from the most interesting Spider-Man villain, though Insomniac Games didn’t necessarily have to pull out all the stops for the first big fight.
Though technically a battle drawn out over three different phases, this part of the game can be over with in as little as a few minutes. Simply web up his turrets, and then fling some projectiles at him while throwing a few punches and kicks, and it’s over.
In the comics, Kingpin is sort of like Batman’s Joker in that he’s a criminal mastermind better at orchestrating his plans from behind closed doors than actually fighting (in some incarnations, at least). He deserves respect for going toe-to-toe against the Wall Crawler himself, but he’s far too easy nonetheless.
