4. The Cave of Knowledge - Elden Ring

FromSoftware games don't like to explain anything to the player, but Elden Ring has to take the cake for being so unintuitive that even the game's tutorial requires a tutorial in order to enter it.

The introductory location in Elden Ring is the Cave of Knowledge. The cave offers a genuinely good explanation of Elden Ring's mechanics and a few enemies for you to test your newly learned skills on.

The only problem is that you don't start the game in the Cave of Knowledge. It's actually a separate location that you have to enter on your way to the hub world, and the entrance to it is so poorly located that most players don't even realize they're walking past it.

Because the entrance is a dimly lit corner opposite of the giant glowing door that leads you out of the actual starting location, pretty much every beginner player ignores it. In fact, even those who have played through the entirety of Elden Ring might be surprised to hear about it, as you don't ever need to backtrack to the start in order to finish the game.

If you ever want to give it a shot, the effort is well worth it, however, as the cave rewards you with a unique gesture!
