10 Worst Video Games Of 2023 (So Far)

1. Greyhill Incident

After playing Greyhill Incident, it feels like Refugium Games saw the terrible reviews for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and rose to challenge to make 2023's worst game.

In this walking simulator, the protagonist, Ryan, teams up with a tinfoil-hatted conspirator to uncover the truth behind the alien sightings in his town.

Tantalising premise aside, Greyhill Incident doesn't get anything right. Texts are rife with spelling and grammatical errors. Every actor's line delivery sounds like it was the first take. The lip-synching is so bad, it would've been less distracting if the NPCs' mouths didn't move. The Greys never come across as intimidating, due to their jerky animations, (especially when they die). The stealth mechanics are useless, since the extra-terrestrials can find Ryan, no matter what precautions are taken.

Even though the gameplay focuses on searching for ammo, bullets don't stand out whatsoever. Because of this, players stumble around in the dark, hoping to find something useful by chance, rather than through observation or skill.

Although Greyhill Incident is a survivor horror, gamers will be too frustrated by the finicky gameplay and deplorable design to feel spooked.

And thanks to the lack of markers, players have no idea where to go, what to do, and most importantly, why they should keep playing.
