5. Clive 'N' Wrench

Loitering around Kickstarter limbo since 2015, Numskulls' Clive 'N' Wrench finally saw the light of day this year. In this quirky platformer, the titular rabbit and monkey duo must travel through time to stop the nefarious Dr. Daucus.

Based on that premise, Clive 'N' Wrench sounds like another generic adventure title. So what does it do to stand out?

The short answer is nothing. This unambitious clunker steals ideas from other platformers, preventing it from carving out its own identity. The character models are such blatant rip-offs of Spyro and Crash Bandicoot's ensemble, the game feels like a bootleg. (The main villain even has the same laugh as Neo Cortex.)

Travelling through the Wild West, China, Ancient Egypt sounds cool, but the levels are surprisingly unimaginative, as if they were cobbled together at the last minute. (This is deeply ironic, since the project spent nearly a decade in development.)

And since the controls are clunky and unresponsive, this platformer couldn't even get the platforming right.

With an avalanche of superior 3D platformers available on all systems, there's no reason why any fan of the genre should waste their time with this failure.
