100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil

99. HUNK's Theme

HUNK Resident Evil 2

A common thread through the development of Resident Evil games is the reusing of assets that were once put to one side. One early example of that comes from the 4th Survivor mini-game from Resident Evil 2, where HUNK attempts to escape Raccoon City before it's destruction. Compared to the main game, the intent is that it's much more focused on action.

However, the music doesn't necessarily reflect that, giving more of a feeling of mystery and intrigue.

That's because the tracks were unused audio from the original prototype build for the game, known these days quite commonly as Resident Evil 1.5. Just like how the original RPD tracks were used for the Marshalling Yard in the final game, HUNK's 4th Survivor soundtrack was made of themes that were originally intended for the game's laboratory.
