100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil

55. The Most Unexpected Asset

Resident Evil Snoop Dogg
Capcom

It's quite a popular piece of trivia that the STARS Office in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis features a photo of the cast of Back to the Future Part III. No one knows why exactly, but considering that the STAGLA gas station also features a DeLorean, it's almost certainly one of the franchise's loving nods to American cinema.

Perhaps a more curious and cheeky reference to American culture in the classic games though is the inclusion of a Playboy magazine.

Found in the Dead Factory in RE3 is in fact an actual Playboy cover that's been scanned and shrunk down. A little bit of digging shows us it's issue 36 of the magazine, published in 1989, and featuring Kelly Conrad.

Why would someone in Raccoon City have this very outdated issue of the adult magazine? Perhaps Ms Conrad is a local celebrity of Raccoon City.  Or maybe someone at Capcom has just had a long-standing crush.
