54. The Netflix Show Had Plans For Chris Redfield

Resident Evil has had several middling at best (and atrocious at worst) live action counterparts but none have been hit by such vitriol as the very forgettable 2022 Netflix series. Baring very little resemblance to the game series and yet proclaiming itself as "canon", the show was already fighting a losing battle without the fact that it was painfully generic and awfully scripted. Surprising nobody, it was cancelled after the first season.

The critiques of the show even came from internally, as VFX supervisor Kevin Lingenfelser stated in an interview with First Aid Spray Podcast, that the show was horribly mismanaged. Nonetheless, Lingenfelser went onto explain some of the plot details that already been pinned for a season 2 and, surprisingly, there were a lot of ideas in the works.

Season 2's opener was due to feature side-character Angeal now fully-formed as the Tyrant and tracking our protagonist to an African wildlife preserve. The episode was due to climax with the Tyrant ripping an elephant in half, but the group would be saved by a rocket launcher wielding Chris Redfield.

Which is a pretty wild selection of words. Maybe it would've been worth a season 2 just to see that part specifically.
