11 "Hated" Video Games You Should Play In 2022

8. Pokémon Sword & Shield

As was expected from the latest entries in the Nintendo's most lucrative franchise, Pokemon Sword/Shield incorporated critters from previous generations. Although there's no way the games could implement every iconic pocket monster, fans were disappointed that Sword/Shield didn't bring back beloved characters like Weedle, Darkrai, Geodude, and Arceus.

Game Freak defended their decision not to incorporate every pre-existing Pokemon since it would've been too time-consuming to recreate each creature from the ground up. But when data miners discovered some models were used from Pokemon games on the 3DS, this added to the hate, and popularised the hashtag #GameFreakLied.

Despite the fact Sword/Shield had lots of great features, including Dynamaxing, players were claiming this was the worst Pokemon game... without bothering to play it.

Fortunately, Game Freak amended this issue one year later with multiple expansion packs that included new areas and 200 extra Pokemon, bringing the grand total to 400.

Sadly, some players still thought the Galarian Pokedex was incomplete, despite the fact the RPG has more Pokemon than any other game. But because of the abundance of content, creative new mechanics and overwhelming amount of Pokemon, every fan should check out Pokemon Sword/Shield, regardless of the initial backlash.
