7. Anno 2205

Anno is a strategy simulation saga that focuses on exploration, diplomacy, and trade, rather than combat. It may sound boring on paper, but Blue Byte's series has been beloved since it debuted.

Unfortunately, the fifth entry, Anno 2205, let the franchise down due to a lack of multiplayer, side missions and randomly generated maps. The mechanics were drastically oversimplified to the point where it felt like the developers were trying to go backwards.

Despite the fact people who pre-ordered were supposed to gain access to the beta, this deal was cancelled at the last minute, adding fuel to the fire.

Even though the follow-up, Anno 1800, was regarded as a return to the form, gamers shouldn't be too quick to discount the fifth instalment. The year after Anno 2205 was released, it received three DLCs, which added new options, gameplay features, and new sectors. Although gamers had to pay for this extra content, it was reasonably priced (about £8).

The initial flak that Anno 2205 received was justified, but the developers have more than made up for it with these numerous updates.
