11 Awesome Actors Who Gave Awful Video Game Performances
6. Patrick Stewart - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
How can you not love Patrick Stewart? The textbook example of an actor getting to have their cake and eat it too, he's theatrical royalty but has also won himself millions of fans for his screen portrayals of Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X.
It's a shame, then, that his voiceover performance as Emperor Uriel Septim VII is so blandly delivered, especially as it's his character's death that sets up the rest of the game.
His opening narration and climactic discussion with the player both feel low-energy and at odds with the more portentous nature of the actual dialogue itself, seemingly the fault of both Stewart's own misinterpretation of the script and his being poorly directed.
This didn't stop Stewart winning the hilariously-named "Best Performance by a Human Male" award at the Spike VGAs in 2006, though.
