11 Awesome Actors Who Gave Awful Video Game Performances

7. David Duchovny - Area 51

It's pretty baffling that a 2005 sci-fi video game starring Fox Mulder himself alongside Marilyn Manson and late character actor Powers Boothe came and went without much fanfare, but that's probably in part because even David Duchovny, who voices protagonist Ethan Cole, barely seemed like he knew the game actually existed.

Much like his other infamous video game voiceover role in 2003's XIII, Area 51 received broadly positive reviews in spite rather than because of Duchovny's soporific work, which sounds like he's ready to nod off if someone as much as waves a mug of warm milk underneath his nose.

Granted, Duchovny is a pretty weird choice for a voice actor anyway, considering his monotonous, droning cadence and tone have always been part of the deal, but a combination of poor voice directing and Duchovny clearly not giving a toss makes his performance, mostly confined to cut-scenes, hilariously careless.
