Aaron Cresswell was terrific last season. Emerging as one of the most exciting left-backs in the country, the West Ham defender combined some ferocious wing play with sensible defensive capabilities last season.

Not just a great defender, he also poses a goalscoring threat from left-back, as demonstrated by his world-class volley at the King Power Stadium in April. His tally of 133 points reflected his fine season, and it’s widely accepted that the 26-year-old was unlucky to miss out on a plane ticket to France for Euro 2016.

However there’s a very good reason why you should steer clear of putting him in your defence this season - he’s injured until Christmas at least.
