11 Most Notorious Gaming Sequel Set-Ups That Never Followed Through
9. Beyond Good & Evil - Pey'j Is Infected
Probably one of the most under-appreciated games of the last decade is Ubisoft's dazzling action adventure title, revolving around protagonist Jade, a reporter who resides in the 2400s and becomes embroiled in an invasion by the alien species known as the DomZ, who spend their time abducting humans and infecting them with spores which turn them into zombified slaves. Teaming up with her protector Pey'j (who yes, looks like a domesticated boar), Jade vows to bring the DomZ down once and for all, and at the end of the game, this seems to come to fruition when she defeats the DomZ High Priest. However, this brief tranquility is completely upset after the credits, with one of the most shocking and intriguing post-credit sequences in gaming history. We cut back to Pey'j, who has a spore grow out of his hand, making it clear that the DomZ are not quite finished. To be fair, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been promised to gamers at various stages despite the original's underwhelming sales, and though it is reportedly at some stage in development, given that we're now over a decade away from the original's release, it's not something to hold your breath for ever coming out. We'll have to wait and see.
