11 Reasons Lost Legacy Is Better Than Uncharted 4

4. Combat Finally 'Works'

Another series-long problem with Uncharted gameplay stems from its sporadic identity changes. The first entry was a base cover shooter, with Uncharted 2 and 3 giving you levels that encouraged platforming and position-changing while in combat, getting the drop on foes or playing the angles game to emerge in one piece. Uncharted 4 then added stealth and the rope-swing to get across the battlefield, with Lost Legacy combining the lot into the best sequences Naughty Dog have ever coded.

In quick succession you can pick off a few guards with some snappy stealth kills before opening up on a bigger crowd and letting all hell break loose.

Within the chaos it's a steady blend of melee combos, flinging grenades, climbing to gain the height advantage or dropping off a ledge to disappear from sight. You'll then hear guards yell about how they've lost track of you, returning the awareness meters to their heads and letting you re-plan and approach from a new angle.

There's no messy "Try to take on 20 guys at once and get killed" stuff, no overwhelmingly messy set-pieces where you're unsure where to go - just brilliant levels that roll together Naughty Dog's platforming prowess with the best gunplay and ability set so far.
