11 Terrible Video Game Collectibles That Were A Waste Of Time

4. Stones Of Barenziah - Skyrim

With the ability to go anywhere and be whoever they want to be, many players will reach different parts of Skyrim at different times, and that's why the Stones of Barenziah are such awful collectibles.

First labelled as an 'Unusual Gem', the player will have to appraise the gems at the Thieves Guild. After joining the guild, you are told that the gem is a Stone of Barenziah, and you'll need all 24 to get them to be worth something.

The problem is, all these stones are scattered around Skyrim, made more difficult by the fact there's no quest marker. You also cannot remove them from your inventory, and they don't stack, leading to an annoying line of them at the bottom of your Misc section.

Upon finally collecting all gems and collecting the crown they were stolen from, the player is not treated to a monetary reward, but the new power-up Prowler's Profit, which increases the likelihood of finding gems in chests and from bodies. By the time you've collected all these gems, you've probably explored a hefty chunk of Skyrim and have a sizeable fortune already, making this reward totally useless.

(And no, you don't get to keep the crown.)
