6. Styx: Shards Of Darkness
They don't make 'em like they used to, but Styx's simplistic, stealth-focussed charms transported a whole swathe of adoring fans back to the shadow-clinging days of 2000s stealth games - so much so it's warranted a sequel for 2017.
Styx's original adventure, Master of Shadows, was a love-letter to the old school; you'd watch enemy patrol patterns, study level layouts until just the right moment presented itself to strike, and if anything went wrong, a quick prod of the restart button let you try again.
Like 2016's Aragami, sometimes it's a welcome breath of fresh air to ditch the 'vision modes' and watered down 'stealth' of what Assassin's Creed turned into, and Styx is aiming to continue that tradition in earnest at the beginning of 2017.
