11 Video Games That Will Define The Current Generation
3. Destiny
There was undeniably real vision and ambition with Destiny - it would be one of the first of its kind, a 'shared-world shooter' that looked to seamlessly blend single and multiplayer elements into a MMORPG style world.
With the pedigree of Bungie backing it, gamers thought for sure that Destiny would be the next big thing. In a way, it was. It was a huge success - until it wasn't. The gameplay was solid, but the game itself was soulless, a product of corporate rather than passion. It was a game so gutted and chopped up, that it barely made coherent sense anymore.
Bungie appear to have remedied a lot of the ill will they received by making Destiny 2 actually good, but the effect of Destiny is widespread throughout the industry. This generation, there's probably no game more famous.
