12 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Gaming History
4. Gotham By Gaslight

One of the coolest potential projects in gaming history, at one point we were set to get a Batman set entirely in an old-school steampunk setting.
Developed by Day 1 Studios and based on the original novel by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola which sees Batman take on Jack the Ripper, it got as far as the prototype stage, only to be canned as it can only be assumed Warner Bros. prioritised Rocksteady's output instead.
Looking to play much like the Arkham titles eventually would, Gotham by Gaslight would also incorporate a one-button toggle for slow-motion, allowing you to plan various moves and 'think like Batman' in any given situation, before dominating foes with a slew of modified weapons.
Every aspect of the game was assembled from the ground-up to be a far more original take on the Bat - especially in the gaming realm - and it remains that a steampunk, clockwork Dark Knight would be extraordinary.
