12 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Gaming History
3. The 'Nintendo PlayStation'
It's hard to imagine a world where Sony and Microsoft are one, but way back before the PlayStation even existed, creator and visionary Ken Kutaragi was working with Nintendo to produce a hybrid 'Nintendo PlayStation' - something that would've no doubt gone on to rule the medium forevermore.
Sadly, the project fell apart when the two parties couldn't agree on how such a system would split its revenue (being it would play Nintendo cartridges and Sony's own CDs), leaving gamers to speculate on a world where the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Mario co-exist in the same universe.
To be fair, competition has bred excellence as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo strive to impress because their contemporaries are doing the same. This is easily one of the biggest missed opportunities in gaming, but one that worked out for the better.
