12 Dumbest Video Game Plot Reveals Since 2010
4. The Synthesis Ending - Mass Effect 3
It wasn't that Mass Effect 3's ending was disappointing, or that its "Now here's an alien child to talk to" setup didn't feel all that fluid following the more believable interactions we'd had before. No, it was that one of the options just didn't feel like it made sense.
Like, we're told that by choosing the Synthesis ending - and as a quick recap, our hero Shepard is currently wielding a giant space-gun with infinite power at this point, or something - that this will force synthetics and organic lifeforms to merge as one.
Assumedly addressing the issue of 'life' and what it means to a synthetic lifeform by blending the two together, just what the hell was that going to look like? Would new lifeforms be born that were somehow a combination of the two? Would we all just black out and wake up with plastic limbs or synthetic fibres coursing through our veins? Would you suddenly zip across the room and meld with the toaster?
Tell us what you mean, Mass Effect.
Oh, you tried and failed miserably with the Extended Cut? Yeah... probably best to just look to the future then.
