At this point it feels as though CD Projekt RED's Skyrim-beating masterpiece has the Game of the Year nomination wrapped up, as surely nothing can come close to the brilliantly original-feeling world on offer. From the emotional and moral weight of every decision you'll make, to the endlessly satisfying scenarios where character, location and narrative drive combine into some of the best singular moments of the decade so far, there's a damn good reason Witcher's cumulative whole far exceeds any graphical bugs or frame rate gripes. What? Fallout 4? Maybe... maybe. Even if Bethesda's post-apocalyptic zenith of modern entertainment comes together glitch-free, I honestly can't see it topping Witcher 3's finest moments, nor providing a lore that's as fun to read about as it is to interact with. With the developers topping off their 16 entry-strong free DLC with some extra finishing animations, new costumes and more tantalisingly a New Game Plus option, it gives newcomers and fans alike reason enough to get stuck back into the world of Geralt and his expeditions as a titular witcher. Like Skyrim, it's going to take years upon years to see everything that's on offer here, but unlike that game, once you're finished with the main campaign, you'll want nothing more than to keep exploring for as long as there's content to soak up. Thankfully, when Wild Hunt's side-quests have better storylines and narrative branches than some do across their entire runtime, you'll not be leaving this place for quite some time.
