12 Fantastic Video Games You Must Play Over Summer 2015

7. Mortal Kombat X

Although the fighting genre in 2015 is only seeing a major release every half-year or so (Dead or Alive's latest instalment being a micro-transacation filled mess too), it's over to NetherRealm's newest entry in their legendary mythology to prove its still got legs. Thankfully, although MK X isn't the most revolutionary of instalments, it does do the series proud by doubling down on the most iconic and enjoyably time-tested tropes within. Fatalities are back in abundance (a particularly gruesome intestine-puller standing out as the sole reason Mortal Kombat keeps its bloody crown), the roster is refined to be the most balanced and varied yet, and each Kombatant now has their moveset split over three variations to ensure you can truly master the strengths and weaknesses of every one.
It may not have been what fans of the envelope-pushing MK 9 were after in terms of its new moves and modes, but as a concrete pillar of an instalment that'll go down in history as a landmark tenth release, MK X more than delivers.
