12 Fantastic Video Games You Must Play Over Summer 2015
5. Massive Chalice
Like XCOM, or have a strategic itch that needs scratching? Massive Chalice has you covered, providing you also don't mind getting a bit Game of Thrones-ian when it comes to forcing couples into marriage and continuing their respective bloodlines. See, the story pits you as an omnipotent ruler of a kingdom waging war against the dastardly Cadence, an ever-present force threatening to overthrow certain areas of the land, one at a time. It takes place over 300 years, putting a unique twist on the aforementioned XCOM trope of becoming attached to one particular soldier and speccing them to maximum in every field possible. Instead, you're forced to reconcile the fact that people will die, and in their droves - meaning you need to take away some of your prized fighters, get them shacked up and start poppin' sprogs, as you'll need those young'ns in the foreseeable future. It can get a bit disturbing if you start noticing how you can pair up increasing aged warriors with other teenagers just for the sake of copulation, but when this menu management is broken up with some brilliantly animated and fun turn-based combat, it makes for a charm that far outweighs any negatives.
