12 Major Video Game Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2016
11. Splinter Cell 7
Ask someone to name the last Splinter Cell and they'll most likely divert back to Double Agent or Conviction, so under-the-radar was 2013's Blacklist when it lost the lead vocal chords of Michael Ironside, it ended up becoming as covert as its namesake. Seriously though, if you've not played the latest Splinter Cell, give it a shot. Gameplay is the best the series has seen so far, and the potent mix combat options helped sell a great 24-style storyline that was actually great fun to watch play out. Looking at the release schedule of the past titles, we've had a three-year gap between Conviction and Blacklist, meaning 2016 could see an announcement trailer appearing somewhere like E3. In addition, just think of Ubisoft's release schedule for the year, and their standing overall. 2014 painted them as one of the worst developers around, a reputation they'd slowly shift thanks to AC: Syndicate playing well, Grow Home being an awesome indie game and Far Cry Primal looking to be another solid sequel. Then realise that nobody on Earth wants another Watch Dogs game, nor do we want another Assassin's Creed any time soon... The solution is to bring back one of the most successful franchises of all time, and now that Metal Gear Solid has retired, it could reclaim its crown at the top with ease.
