12 Most Memorable Moments From PS4's First Year

10. Twitch Bans PlayStation Camera Streaming

One of the more unexpectedly popular features to emerge from the PS4 launch was The Playroom, augmented reality software to be used in conjunction with the PlayStation 4 camera peripheral. Combining this with the PS4's ability to stream gameplay via Twitch, users began creating their own "shows", talking to viewers and in some cases even setting up phone lines to have on-air conversations. It was a fantastic testament to the social quality of gaming, and how modern technology can completely raise the bar in that regard. However, it only took mere hours before the expected happened: people started having sex with each other and broadcasting it via their PS4 cameras, and fear began to spread that pedophiles might use the service to prey on young children left alone with their consoles. After a man stripped his apparently drunk wife naked for all to see, Twitch made the executive decision to pull the plug, banning all non-gaming PS4 streams from the site. Players could of course still stream to UStream, but considering how much larger Twitch is, this mostly killed the fun for everyone.
