12 Nintendo Franchises That Could Be Adapted Into Movies

6. Yoshi

Yoshi is one of the few characters from the Mario franchise that is so popular that he could absolutely sell his own film. The cute little dinosaur has become one of the most marketable figures in Nintendo's oeuvre, and with good reason. Just look at him! If Nintendo was looking purely to create a film that would enable them to sell mountains of merchandise, a story resembling Yoshi's Island certainly wouldn't be a bad place to start. Although a Yoshi film would undoubtedly be better aimed at a younger audience, he has universal appeal. He may not be an obvious choice for the first Nintendo film in over 20 years, but there's no reason to believe that, if Nintendo produce a few films, he'll be on their list of potential stars. Casting Suggestion: Someone with a high-pitched voice and perhaps a bit of a comedic edge would be perfect for the main character here. Perhaps Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Definitely not Joe Pasquale. The other inhabitants of Yoshi island could feature different voices, of course. The gruff melodrama of Corey Feldman, the humour of Chris Rock and a posher slant from Anne Hathaway would probably suit. Likelihood: 7/10 Desirability: 9/10
