12 Video Games That Are Long Overdue Sequels
1. Sunset Overdrive
In one of the biggest surprises of the current generation of consoles, Microsoft announced an Xbox One exclusive that would be developed by a studio synonymous with the PlayStation, Insomniac Games. The result of this unexpected collaboration was Sunset Overdrive.
A rip-roaring action adventure game laced with pop culture references, snazzy weapons, and exploding orange monsters, Sunset Overdrive oozes creativity in its game design and playability. Aided by positive reviews, it would seem a sequel would be immediately in the offing.
Sadly that day has yet to come, and likely never will. In a bittersweet development for gamers, Insomniac followed up Sunset Overdrive with one of the current gen's best loved games in Marvel's Spider-Man. A game so successful it's spawned a Miles Morales spin-off and an acquisition by Sony, and likely drove a few nails into the coffin of any Sunset Overdrive sequel.
If only it wasn't an exclusive game to start off with, then maybe we would already have had a sequel by now. That being said, though it may not be a priority for Sony, Insomniac have expressed interest in delving into the world of Sunset Overdrive once again in the future. Until then, we'll just have to kick back with a can of OverCharge and wait.
