6. Batman: Gotham City Racer

Think the Riddler in Arkham Knight was the first one to give Batman racing challenges? Well, you're probably right, as Gotham City Racer is barely a racing game.

Released in 2001 for the original PlayStation, Gotham City Racer is based off the television series The New Batman Adventures. That's the main hook of the game - it includes some nice cutscenes based around the show, but that's about the only redeeming quality this one has.

The game looks and plays really badly. All you do is drive the Batmobile to a location, stop a crime, throw some Batarangs, and then rinse and repeat.

Traversal isn't fun either. During your driving escapades, Gotham City Racer will routinely pause the game and throw a loading screen at you as it can't handle rendering the environments. This happens a lot.

It almost plays very similarly to Driver 2; you're against the clock trying to get to a location and then there's a bit of traversal thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately the Batmobile handles like it's not a car at all, with stiff steering and rubbish cornering.

Oh and try not to hit anything in the environment - items have a tendency to throw your Batmobile into a massive, catastrophic spin and force you to restart the mission.
