First released in September, 1986 Castlevania is the oldest entry on our list. Exploring haunted castles in a search for Count Dracula is perhaps the most perfect of plots to enjoy on Halloween. You won't just come across the king of the vampires, however. Almost every iconic movie monster is featured as a villain in this series including Medusa!

Combining eerie atmospheres with music of the same degree, Castlevania featured among many lists of the best games on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo. It may seem a bit outdated to gamers of today's age but the gameplay is still solid and incredibly fun. If you're old enough you'll experience nostalgia on top of the thrills and chills Castlevania delivers.
