Metacritic Score: 79-81 The latest attempt to reboot the stagnating Wolfenstein franchise is another game that, though well-reviewed and commercially successful, just didn't get many people talking, and it seemed to be mostly forgotten within a few weeks. While hardly one of the year's best games, it was nevertheless a pleasant surprise, an ultra-violent throwback to the goofy brilliance of the original game. With its interesting alternate timeline narrative, an interesting mix-up of stealth and action gameplay, great pacing and plenty of welcome bursts of humour, this is easily the best Wolfenstein game in years, and one that practically nobody expected to be this good. After the failure of 2009's Wolfenstein reboot, many thought the series near enough dead, but this inventive entry proves there's plenty of life left in the old dog yet. It's just a shame this one flew surprisingly under the radar.
